Metabolic response to water shortage in an isolated feral sheep population

چکیده
To establish metabolic responses for biochemical analytes related to freshwater shortage adaptation, a total of 376 blood samples were collected from feral sheep at the Socorro Island, Revillagigedo Archipelago. Comparisons made between four sampling periods with repeated measurements 0, 7, 14, and 21 d (94 serums: 84 females 10 males). During first week, received daily water ad libitum. second third 60% in relation 7 days intake. Analysis variance was used compare mean values days. Stepwise regression analysis evaluate relationships analytes. The glucose (GLU), cholesterol (COL-T), triglycerides (TAG), urea, albumin (ALB), protein (PROT-T), sodium ion (Na+), creatine kinase (CK), arginine vasopressin (AVP), aldosterone (Aldo), determined. With exception GLU, COL-T, TAG, ALB, PROT-T, Na+, CK, AVP, Aldo showed differences higher corresponding 14 limited Negative correlations (P<0.05) ALB COL-T quantified. Positive Aldo; urea CK AVP PROT-T Aldo, Results could help improve accuracy profiles as tool evaluating dehydration indicators describe physiological mechanisms employed by cope availability freshwater.

Gastrointestinal nematode species burdens and host mortality in a feral sheep population.
Every few years a large proportion of the feral sheep on Hirta, St Kilda die due to food shortage. The effects of malnutrition are exacerbated by gastrointestinal nematodes. As found in sheep flocks in mainland Britain, Teladorsagia circumcincta has long been considered the predominant and most pathogenic nematode species in all age classes of Soay sheep. Previous research indicated that intens...
متن کاملMetabolic capacity of CYP2D6 within an Iranian population (Mazandaran Province)
Background: CYP2D6 is polymorphically expressed enzyme that show marked interindividual and interethnic variation. Phenotyping of CYP2D6 provides valuable information about real-time activity of this important drug-metabolizing enzymes through the use of specific probe drugs. The aim of this study was to identify the CYP2D6 oxidation phenotype with dextromethorphan (DEX) as a probe drug in Maza...

The aim of this study was to describe inbreeding and population structure in Sangsari sheep breeding station. For this reason, data from 7028 Sangsari sheep which were collected during 1987-2014 in Sangsari sheep breeding station located near to Damghan city, Semnan province were used. Lambs born during 2010-2014 were considered as reference population. The genetic structure analysis of the pop...
